first_imgNational Soccer League champions Hekari United FC are on target to defend their premiership title with just one more round before the semi-finals.Hekari is leading the points ladder on 27 points in the NSL competition, followed by Oro FC, Gigira Laitepo Morobe FC and Lae FC.These teams are looking to be favourites to make the top four before the semi-finals in two weeks time.Hekari coach Jerry Allan is confident his team will continue their winning streak to defend their premiership title which they have held for nine years consecutively.Allan said the team played well in their recent game against Admiralty FC, thrashing the newcomers 5-0.He said the boys gave their best and that’s how they should play to keep the team’s reputation.“We want to defend the title, there’s one more game before we end the premier league and go into the semi-final.“The boys played exceptionally well against Admiralty in which they got the first chance to score and that’s what football is about, if you score early then you have a chance of winning the game.“Jean Kaltack is currently injured, suffering from a big blow to the right leg and may not be able to play in the next game.“After receiving the minor premier in round 12, we will now have to concentrate on defending the premiership title, especially in the knock outs,” he said.He said the players know that it will be very challenging however with the experience of Koriak Upaiga, David Muta, Nigel Dabinyaba, Kema Jack, Neil Hans and Pita Bolatonga they can handle the pressure and make the grand final.last_img
