first_imgIn the fourth edition of In The Spotlight, the New South Wales Scorpions’ Sam Brisby speaks about his team’s preparation in the lead up to the Elite Eight. How does it feel to be a part of the 2011 Elite Eight series? It is very exciting to be a part of the new system and I’m looking forward to the series in March. It is going to be a very tough series as all eight teams will be even due to the great spread of talent. I believe it will also be a great experience playing in the Elite Eight series as the best players in Australia will be competing. How is your team’s preparation going in the lead up to the event? The team’s preparation is going well. We have had some good training sessions lately and are starting to mix well. The team is a lot of fun and we are all having a good time. We are a very relaxed team which is good. What would you say are the strengths of your team? The bulk of our team played in last year’s NTL winning Scorpions team. I think this will be our strength and many of the boys will know what it takes to win a tournament such as this one.Who do you expect to be your toughest opponents? The Country Mavericks look to have a good side, although all the teams will be tough due to the spread of talent with the new system. All seven round games are going to be hard so we have to be switched on for each game. What would it mean to you to win the Elite Eight Series? It would be a great honour to win the Elite Eight series and to beat some of the best quality teams in Australia. I would be extremely happy to win a tournament with this team and it will also be a great experience with all the boys.Stay tuned to the website for the upcoming editions of In The Spotlight, which will feature every team in the Elite Eight series.
