Clinton says Wells Fargo proves mandatory arbitration should be banned

first_img 1SHARESShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblr Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton pledged this week to bolster the CFPB and move to ban binding arbitration clauses in contracts, saying that the Wells Fargo scandal, as well as other debacles, demonstrates the need for expanded consumer protection.“Too many of the rules and incentives in our economy encourage those at the top to abuse their power and take advantage of consumers, workers, small businesses, and taxpayers,” the Clinton campaign stated in a fact sheet as Clinton spoke in Ohio on Monday.Clinton said that, as president, she would work to ensure that consumers, employees and small businesses can fight back on a level playing field by banning mandatory arbitration clauses in contracts. North Patchogue Crash Leaves Pedestrian Dead

first_imgSign up for our COVID-19 newsletter to stay up-to-date on the latest coronavirus news throughout New York A 58-year-old man was killed when he was struck by a car while walking across a road in North Patchogue over the weekend.Suffolk County police said Florencio Cardanas of Patchogue was walking across Medford Avenue just behind two other pedestrians when he was hit by a northbound Pontiac Grand Am at 2:04 a.m. Sunday.The victim was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he died from his injuries.The driver, a 37-year-old North Patchogue man, was not injured.Fifth Squad detectives impounded the vehicle, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information about this crash to call them at 631-854-8552.last_img read more
